Recreate the Looks Inspired by Your Viewing History
There is so much to love about British period dramas. The actors, the scenery, the storylines, and the costumes! With most of the population stuck at home watching TV over the last year, British period dramas like Bridgerton, The Crown, Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders, and others quickly became favorites. These hit TV shows often highlight the characters with their horses in different settings, and we love to see them riding and wearing the equestrian styles depicted in the stories.
Here, we break down the most inspiring looks from beloved shows and recreated similar styles with selected more up to date items from some of the best equestrian brands to recreate the looks inspired by your viewing history.
Recreate the Look # 1 – The Crown
The Crown, which closely follows Queen Elizabeth II’s ascension and family history, also depicts other aspects of her and her family’s lives. A love of horses and all things equestrian, especially riding, is a big component. Queen Elizabeth is a known horse enthusiast. Her daughter Princess Anne began riding at the age of 11 and competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the dressage competition.
British royalty member’s real lives capture attention as well, and the equestrian styles they wear remain in the spotlight. We have always seen the occasional royal family member in equestrian attire. Family members like Kate Middleton have brought notoriety to certain styles, such as incorporating riding boots and wellies into her regular, everyday outfits. We recently shared our take on how to add equestrian staples to your casual outfits.
Unsurprisingly, the equestrian looks from The Crown are classic yet chic. Add your own flair to the following or keep it simple as these picks never go out of style.

Recreate the Look # 2 – Bridgerton
We love to see a modern take on a classic. Take some inspiration from the amazing costumes in Bridgerton and make a statement with bold, fun colors. There is no need to recreate the complete early 1800s look, as a couple of accessories can go a long way. Add a jacket and gloves and nod to the fashion of an earlier time with an updated twist. Phoebe Dynevor may have pretended to have experience riding horses when she auditioned for the role, but she looks every bit natural on her horse in this style.
