Acavallo Gel Out Seat Saver

I'm 47 and I run, mountain bike and horseback ride and I have some issues with my back and one of my hips. This gel out pad is a miracle worker. It has really issued my pain issues. I ride twice a week and I work hard. I ride without stirrups a lot. Also, since it was my first purchase I got 10 percent off and it shipped one day from England and was on my door step the next morning!
I don't own my own horse and I ride about 3 different horses at my barn for lessons. I got the medium size and it has fit on all of the saddles that I use for the different horses. I got the gel out because I watched a youtube video that said the gel in can sometimes leave marks on the saddle and since I don't own the saddles I didn't want to risk this. Also, I read that the gel out was thicker and since I needed it for cushioning, I went with this one.
I wear full seat silicone pants and I haven't had an issue with the two items sticking to each other. I ride hunt seat and I've used this for jumping and flat work with no issues.

After decades of riding multiple horses a day with no issue, I started to get repeat saddle sores, rubs, and bruised seatbones. The years have caught up with me and my skin has gotten thinner and my natural posterior padding was reduced. For over a year I tried various topicals, padded underwear, and seat savers, and visited several doctors searching for a solution. But I kept having issues. Some things I tried were too bulky and I ended up uncomfortable from the pommel. Others slipped or shifted or muddled my cues enough that my tempi changes were a mess as my poor horse couldn’t understand my aids. And I was still getting rubs and losing weeks of saddle time. I was desperate and frustrated. This gel seat saver changed all that. From the first ride in it about 4 months ago, my horse could understand me and I could knock out the tempis again, the deep bruising has healed and I haven’t had a single rub, I’m enjoying jumping again and have gone to a couple schooling shows. I’m back to being able to ride several horses a day and enjoy three hour hacks. This gel seat saver has saved not just my seat, but my riding. I’ve now invested in a total of four so I have them on both my dressage saddles and both my jump saddles. (They are easy enough to move to different saddles, but after three months of switching one pad around I decided to get one per saddle.) At least 8 friends and neighbors have bought them since seeing mine. With my doctor’s help I have been granted a dispensation certificate making this seat saver legal equipment for me to use showing, both dressage and jumping. It’s discrete enough when I’m in the saddle that it really isn’t noticed.

I did try the Avacello gel-in seat saver first, and found it was too bulky in the pommel to suit my needs. But my husband loves it. So try different options until you find what works for you.

I’ve seen comments from people that consider this thing sticky. I don’t. Even with full seat breeches, it works great. It pads and protects me where I need it and I forget it’s even there. I’m riding better because I’m not hurting or protecting myself or compensating. I use it for FEI dressage, for jumping, and for hacking. I hope never to sit in a saddle again without one.

I have ridden in another jell pad for several years and enjoyed it. Went looking on line for a replacement and found this. Was a bit skeptical when it arrived as I thought it would be "too sticky " for my liking. Not so. Just great for supporting my 2 hip replacements!
